You can make soap?

That was my thought when I saw handmade soap for the first time.

I enjoy trying to do things, make things or build things on my own. They don't always turn out perfect, but the feeling that comes with making something you never knew you could is a satisfying, triumphant feeling! So of course, I had to try it out.

It took about a year of research and gearing up to make my first batch of soap. I made a soap mold out of a small box. I had all my ingredients ready and finally started my very own first batch of cold-process soap. It took me several hours to complete what can be done in two. But this was a challenge I had to complete, and there was that great feeling when I accomplished the task. Woohoo - You did it!!

Now I had to wait four long weeks for the soap to cure. Hmmm, could I actually wait that long to try my first ever soap? Nope. I had to see how it worked, and it wouldn't wait. I used it after about three days. "Okay", I thought "this is pretty nice! It lathers well, and feels so nice on my skin." So I started thinking about other ingredients I could use for different soaps. I used carrot puree for one, avocado puree with black tea and tea herbs for another. I was hooked.

One day as I was changing my clothes, my hand brushed my leg, and I was shocked! It was so soft and felt so smooth. I don't ever remember my skin feeling this wonderful!

Yes, you can make soap. Real soap, and I will never go back to commercially-made soap again.
